                                            WELCOME

BannerDartmouth is proud to be a part of the RHS BRITIAN IN BLOOM and to be a Gold Award Winner and one of the first Towns in the South West to fly the coverted Gold Flag.

Dartmouth in Bloom or the ‘Bloomers’ as they are known locally is a voluntary, non profit making organisation which relies on donations, fund raising events and the sale of home grown plants from the greenhouse together with a number of grants from the councils, local residents and businesses.

The 'Bloomers' strive to achieve the best and encourage the local residents and many businesses in the town to provide bright displays throughout the year. Dartmouth is famous for its Royal Regatta, Music Festival, Crab and Food Festivals the Candlelit Procession by the local children and their parents and the festive street decorations provided by the retailers at Christmas, Dartmouth is an all year round town to visit.

The Bloomers work in harmony with the Towns Gardening team and have responsibility for the planting and maintenance of a number of areas throughout the town, these are “The Town Entrance”, “The Anchor Bed on College Way”,”The Triangular Bed at the Higher Ferry”, “The Circular Beds and Boarders outside of the Community Greenhouse” and the Hanging Baskets, Mangers and Troughs around the Boat Float, in Bayard’s Cove and along Zion Place.

In May 2010 Dartmouth suffered a terrible tragedy when a fire destroyed some of the oldest buildings in the heart of the town, but despite this tragedy the townsfolk rallied round and the spirit of the Dartmouth people rose to the surface, work is now under way to repair and rebuild these historic buildings to their former glory.

Dartmouth In Bloom has been an active member of the South West in Bloom for over 32 years. South West In Bloom is one of eighteen regional/national competitions that make up Britain in Bloom which is the biggest horticultural campaign in Europe and is focused on the three core pillars of Horticultural Achievement, Environmental Responsibility & Community Participation, in the RHS Britain in Bloom Awards programme.
